Construction Schedule – 7th Street Bridge Project

The 7th Street Bridge will be completely closed during construction starting on March 16, 2026, until Late 2027/Early 2028.

March 9th 2026: Community Meeting

Join us for a community event before the 7th Street Bridge closes. Residents, businesses, and commuters can learn about the project, construction impacts, and detours. County staff and project reps will be available to answer questions. Everyone is welcome to attend this important gathering.

Please use one of the following alternative routes to cross the Tuolumne River

Highway 99 (West Route) Through traffic, trucks, and commuters traveling longer distances Take Highway 99 north or south to cross the Tuolumne River, use Tuolumne Boulevard or nearby exits to access downtown, and note that it is a major highway with higher speed limits that accommodates all vehicle types, including semi-trucks.
9th Street Bridge (East Route) Local traffic and shorter trips within ModestoUse 9th Street to cross the Tuolumne River, connect via local streets to reach your destination, take a shorter route for nearby neighborhoods, and gain more direct access for local residential and business traffic.
Pedestrian & Bicycle Access River Crossing: Temporary bus service via modified StanRTA Route 42 with convenient bus stops, while Tuolumne River Regional Park remains open during construction with access available via existing trails and temporary pathways, and pedestrian access maintained throughout the park.

Other Public Considerations

Traffic restrictions, including lane restrictions and temporary signals, may be in place during active work hours. Construction typically occurs during daytime hours, from 7 AM to 6 PM on weekdays. The work will progress through these phases over the coming weeks.
